International Overdose Awareness Day – Parry Sound

Join CMHA Muskoka-Parry Sound and community partners in Parry Sound on August 31 for International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD).

International Overdose Awareness Day is a time to remember the lives lost to overdose, support those who are still with us, challenge the stigma surrounding substance use, and raise awareness about how we can help save lives.

Remember. Honour. Support.

As part of the event, community members are invited to take part in a meaningful memorial activity:

🌿 Plant a stick in honour of someone you have lost to overdose.

🪨 Write the name of someone who is still struggling on a rock as a prayer of support.

These simple acts provide an opportunity to remember loved ones, show support for people who are currently struggling, and remind our community that no one should have to face substance use challenges alone.

Whether you come to remember someone, learn more, connect with local supports, or simply stand in solidarity with those affected by overdose, you are welcome.

Community resources and information will be available throughout the event, including opportunities to learn more about substance use, harm reduction, overdose prevention, and local supports.
